Available for adoption thru Another Chance: |
| Cats, kittens, and in-betweens . . .
ACAR still has an abundance of kittens and at least a dozen more who will be old enough for adoption by mid-late October. We also have a nice selection of adult kitties who would like to be considered for new loving homes like yours. See some of our current cats and kittens below. Please take a minute to stop by the adoption center on Saturday to meet and greet some of the many pets up for adoption
. One or more of our little clients may just steal your heart.
If you're interested in adopting a cat or kitten, you can save time by printing and filling out an application form, then sendiing it in or dropping it by our adoption center so your references can be checked in advance.
Many vets aren't open on Saturdays and we need landlord approval for renters.
All our adoptees are up to date on shots (age appropriate), are wormed and given a general health checkup before leaving with their new families. Kittens are spayed or neutered before adoption (and we have information about low cost options if you have unfixed cats at home).
FMI about kittens and/or other available companion pets, please stop by our adoption center @ 37 Market Street North Berwick on Saturday 10:00 a.m. ~ 2:00 p.m. Or please call Julie @207-676-2165 or email boomeredgewater@comcast.net.
We're also on Petfinder now. Thank You! |

Windsor needs a home . . .
Windsor turned up last May, on the day of the royal wedding, weighing only 7 lbs, fur matted and dirty, covered with fleas, and with a big sore on his neck. Now Windsor is a beautiful, healthy, gentle 15 lb cat, laid-back and loving. His long gray tiger & white fur only needs occasional brushing. He has sensitive skin but medication a couple of times a year will keep it under control. He's 2-3 years old, neutered, up-to-date on shots, and gets along well other cats, although he can be timid if they are aggressive. Because of past hard times, Windsor doesn't like to attend our adoption days and be shut in a cage among strangers, but you can arrange to meet him at his foster home by calling Lynn at 676-5767. |

Meet May (Mumsy) . . .
May is a beautiful large shorthaired female mother cat who has now been spayed. She has been a terrific mother to her kittens and now that they are adopted she needs a forever home. Mumsy is very friendly and greets her foster parents at the door. Come and meet her during our Saturday adoption hours. (posted 10/13/11) |

Meet Ziggy . . .
Ziggy is a shorthaired black young adult cat (4-5 years old) who was brought to us when a couple divorced and neither party was able to keep him. Ziggy is friendly and gets along with other cats although he sometimes picks on less aggressive cats. He has lots of personality, and likes to play and explore, is neutered, has double front paws, and would make a great addition to your family. Let us know if you would like to meet Ziggy on one of our adoption days. |

Needs a Happy Ending . . .
Big Mike is a sweet shorthaired gray tiger and white neutered young adult who was abandoned in a carrier in a snowy grocery store parking lot. Even after the love and care in his foster home, the trauma has left him very timid and although he likes to be petted, a sudden movement or loud noise will send him looking for a hiding place, as will attention from other cats. He may also bite when frightened so would not be good with young children. Because he doesn't run and play, he's become downright portly and would benefit from being an only cat so his new family could put him on a diet and encourage him to play. If you think you could help Big Mike become a happy relaxed loving fellow again, please contact his foster mom, Lynn, at lmanley@maine.rr.com and arrange to meet him. |

Meet Macy . . .
Macy is a two and a half year old spayed female, current on all necessary vaccinations, healthy and loveable. Macy was adopted at eight weeks of age and returned to the rescue when her adopted mom could no longer keep her. Macy has been raised as an only kitty, but with with a little patience and love adapted to other companion pets. Currently Macy is sharing her foster home with three small dogs and several other house cats and generally is ok with the rest of the crew. Macy will not do well with small children, and would like a quiet home with an older person who would provide her with an indoor only environment, lots of lap time and at least one sunny window to set in. If you think that Macy would be a nice addition to your family, please stop by the adoption center to meet her. |
